According to David Haugh at the Chicago Tribune, Cedric Benson and the Bears weren't on the same page from the start. Says Haugh, "[Benson] wasn't crying because he was overcome with joy or pride...[or] over the honor of running in the city where Walter Payton ran." Benson was upset, according to Haugh, due to the fact that Jerry Angelo decided to draft him with the 4th overall pick in the 2005 draft even after Benson's people called JA shortly before the pick was made to tell him the numbers between the parties were too far off and a contract deal would not be easy to attain. Have no fear, Ceddy; you are now labeled a 1st round bust, drank your way out of a city that wanted to see you succeed, and are currently out of a job. Now there's something to cry over.
