Brian Roberts not coming to the North Side

Though the talk of bringing Brian Roberts to the North Side was heavy during spring training, talks between the two clubs have cooled considerably since. According to Ken Rosenthal, the proposed deal by the Cubs in spring training that included right-hander Sean Gallagher, shortstop Ronny Cedeno, Class AA left-hander Donald Veal and Class A righty Jose Ceda was balked at by the Orioles, and it may have been the best thing that could've happened for the Cubbies. Cedeno has been a great option off the bench, Gallagher has been better than average for a spot-starter, and the Cubs get to keep some of the youth in the farm system.
There's no way the Cubs would offer that much now, and Rosenthal suggests a better trade option for the Orioles might be Roberts for Ricky Weeks of Milwaukee, a far cry from the level of talent the Cubs proposed.
