Cubs ink Ben Broussard

According to ESPN 1000 Radio, via mlbtraderumors.com, the Cubs have signed IF/OF Ben Broussard to a minor league deal. Broussard had batted .159 in 26 games with Texas earlier this season. Though the Cubs weren't thought to be in the mix for Broussard 24 hours ago, but the injury to Alfonso Soriano may have prompted Jim Hendry to find some LF help. Personally, I'm not sure playing Broussard is a better idea than pulling Felix Pie back up and giving him some more time. It will be interesting, however, to see the Cubs OF on days Fukudome gets off over the next month. There's a strong chance that on those days the Cubs will start 3 outfielders that weren't on the opening day roster (Reed Johnson, Broussard, Jim Edmonds).
